My thesis explores the profound connection between the past and the present, sparked by a summer spent examining my mother's old family photographs. The faces in these images, though unfamiliar, represent my lineage, evoking a deep sense of connection to ancestors I never knew. As I sifted through these photos, I felt a strong bond with these individuals and wondered about the nature of time—imagining a world where past, present, and future coexist. These reflections serve as the foundation for my exploration of fashion across decades, inspired by the visual history within these photographs. My thesis explores the evolution of fashion from the late 19th century to contemporary trends, seeking to create a seamless amalgamation of eras. By blending personal and familial narratives with broader societal themes, I aim to illustrate how the past influences the present, ultimately revealing the cyclical nature of trends and the timelessness of human connection.
